I had my first visit to the vet’s since coming to my new home, for the last of my puppy vaccinations and to have a general look over and check-up. Here I am waiting patiently in the waiting room of the surgery.
The vet was a lovely young lady named Becky, who thought I was pretty cute (but then again, who doesn’t?)
She gave me my shots, which I didn’t like one bit. I think everyone in the surgery would have heard me yelp!!
Then she checked me out, everything was going well, right number of toes and not extra tails or anything like that... until she managed to get a look at my teeth... I didn’t make it very easy for her and she complained that I wasn’t a very good patient.
Becky was surprised I hadn’t made the problem known earlier... My lower canine teeth are hitting against my upper gums and causing pressure sores.
Becky said that if I were being desexed (neutered) I could have that done early and have the teeth taken out then. But my humans weren’t planning on having me desexed at all; because I am so handsome people have made plans for me to make handsome little puppies one day when I’m big enough.
But, if the teeth problem happens with my adult teeth I won’t make very good puppy-making-material and I’ll have to have the teeth taken out any way!!
So, at the moment the teeth situation is a waiting game, if I’m in pain before the puppy teeth fall out I have to go back and see Becky. If they fall out and the adult teeth grow in the same way I have to go back and see Becky...
Do you know of any doggies who have had this problem? What did they do? How did things turn out for them?
Meanwhile, I hope I don’t have to see Becky again until it’s time for my adult vaccinations.
