Doggie School: Lesson Two

Floyd and I had our second lesson of doggie school on Tuesday.

It went okay for me, not great but maybe a tiny bit better than last week... Maybe?

Again, like the first lesson, I was stressed out by the number of doggies there and wasn't able to be calm enough to work with the group so I had to work away from them.

I started off a short distance away while I was practising "sit" with my human, but there was a man there (wearing a yellow shirt) with a German Shepherd. He kept moving his dog closer and closer to me... Which kept stressing me out... So, to help me calm down we had to keep moving further away....

By the end of the night we were nearly on the other side of the freakin' oval!! (Sorry, but my human and I were REALLY annoyed with this "Yellow-Shirt" man....)

Because of all the moving and stress, we weren't able to take any photos, which sucks.

Also, we missed all of the instructions on "down" (laying down) because "Yellow-Shirt" had pushed us so far away from the group that we couldn't hear the instructor... grrr!!

We were still able to work on "sit", and we started on "come" and walking on a loose lead (so the humans don't end up with their arms pulled out of their sockets).

While everyone else was doing "down" my human and I decided to try "up" (sitting up like a Scottie, doing "nice begs" or "Scottie stands"). Which I started to master, until "Yellow-Shirt" edged closer again and scared me...

Practicing "up" at home

Sigh... Hopefully things will improve a bit more next week...

If we have any more troubles with this "Yellow-Shirt" man, I might just lose it and rip that yellow shirt right off him... Just sayin'...

I would also like to thank my lovely readers for helping me to reach 3000 page views!! I loves you lots!!

  2. Dougall you appear to have the Scottie Stand down-pat...uhm up-pat? Oh dear...now I am confused but the point of the story is:WELL DONE YOU!! Sorry to hear of your frustration with Mr Yellow-Shirt some hoomans can be very inconsiderate. Perhaps you can ask your hooman to have a word with him at your next lesson.

  8. Well you're just going to have to use your intelligence. You're a Scottie and smarter than a GS. Your human got a Scottie and is smarter than yellow shirt who got a GS. Put your heads together.

  9. I would have been annoyed with yella shirt man too. Good grief. I wonder why the trainer didn't call out YSM and tell him you were there to train too and you needed your space. I wonder about humans sometimes.

You look very cute in that picture!

  13. Look at you doing that great Scottie Sit!!!! You're learning alot despite that yellow shirted windbag. Geesh. I am proud of you for even staying in the room. German Shepherds totally freak me out and I would have been OUT OF THERE after their first move in my direction. Keep up the good work, Buddy!

  14. Yup, I use to bark at peeps when they would get in my space. It took a while, and lots of treaties to get me to know that strangers are great as long as they have treats!!! You'll be great next time Dougall, I know it! I am sooo impressed at your sit-up! Ma just can't get me to do it! I don't have very good balance, I guess.

    Kisses,

    Ruby

    1. Thanks for the support Ruby, I hope I get better.
I might have an advantage over you with the sit up trick... As a Scottie, I'm naturally lower to the ground and don't have to sit us as high... BOL!!

  15. Dougall, I am so impressed at your control. I would have totally attacked that sassy yellow shirt guy. I am glad you learned some things. I hope next time is better. Did that man have a monkey named George with him? Just wondering.

  17. Oh, poor Dougall! Don't worry, though - at least Mr Yellowshirt is unknowingly training you to be able to cope with anything! I'm sure you'll get there in the end.

  18. "UP"? That is Pawsome. I haven't learned "UP" yet. I'll have to try that one. You look so cool doing the "UP".
Mom says that next week you need to ask your human to wear a Red shirt. Red is intimating and might scare yellow shirt guy away. Hummmm… maybe I should get a Red collar.
