A man on a mission!

When I'm on a walk, I'm a man on a mission. What's my mission, you say?

Sniff ALL of the pee-mail!!

My mode of achieving this mission? Get from pee-mail message to pee-mail as fast as possible.

How do I do this? By dragging my peep along using the "Bunny Hop".

This is where you run along like a bunny, put your front paws down and bounce forward like a bunny, over and over again.

My peep made a movie so you can check out my method...

What do you think? Do you like my method...? Do you do something different?

My peep doesn't seem to like the Bunny Hop, she complains about me hurting her arm... pft... She should move faster!!

She said she bought something online to help make walking easier (I think she is trying to eliminate the bunny hop...) She called this thing as "easy walk harness"... Hmmm... I don't like the sound of that...

  1. That's a lovely bunny hop! Harnesses like that are designed to encourage pulling, so you are technically doing the exact thing you should be! Maybe your human could look into hooking your leash to her belt loop with a carabiner. That's what I use and it really helps. Plus, when Blueberry pulls, I just stop until she let's the leash go slack and then we start walking again. It's a laborious training method, but it does work at least 85% of the time. The other 15% it doesn't is when Blueberry is overcome with the scent of rabbits or kitties. Be careful with the "Easy-walk" - some dogs have tried to pull anyway and end up flipping over or else the harness chafes their doggy arm pits. I sure wouldn't want that to happen to you!

  3. Poetry in motion! Love the bunny hop. SHE got an easy walker for Roxy....BUT, Roxy managed to wriggle out of it when she got excited!

We drag HER down the street in the mornings on our walks...but then SHE has to drag us home!

We got you in the Christmas Gift exchange. We've started shopping. Is there anything you don't particularly like? We like most things though we scotties don't really play with toys. We will play tug-o-war with stuff. Roxy loves everything especially if it squeaks.

  6. hey dougal! i love the bunny hop, in fact - i used to do it myself and then my mum got me a "sports bra" and i don't do it anymore...probably it's something similar to your new harness!

  7. OMD! OMD! Mr. Fox does the same thing! I have tried the chain choke collar - bad; the 'Haltie' anti-pulling over the nose harness thing - bad (he flipped out of it); the pinch collar - the best but it fell apart; and have settled on the martingale for each dog - it's good but not perfect. You have a darn cute little butt there Dougall Dog!!!

  8. Dougall, Your human is a lot more tolerant than mine. If I pull on my leash, even a little, she stops in her tracks and makes me sit. If I keep it up - walk aborted. I learned to trot easily to preserve my blessed walk.

  11. OMD! Dougall, you do looks like a wabbit! Oh, Ma has tried EVERY harness out there, and is still trying to find a harness in which I don't pull her arm out of the socket! Ma does the "I'm not movin' until you stop pullin'" thing....can't say I approve of it.
Tell your Moms that she can try to do what my Ma does (until the nasty NEW harness comes!), she wraps the lead in front of me, so it goes across my chest, basically making it a 'no pull'. It works for me, but it can make your harness go to one side, but no pulling.
Tell your Moms...I just gotta be me!

    Kisses,
    Ruby

  14. firstly, we love the slow-mo videoing - makes for easier analysis of your style. secondly, sammy does the exact same hop...until his scottie cramp sets in and then it becomes a peg-leg hop *BOL*

  15. Dougall we watched that whilst humming the theme tune to Chariots of Fire! BOL. Well impressed. We do the swim which is a low crouch and legs slaying which is aerodynamically efficient and allows for major dragging of the peeps. Keep it up pal and you'll soon be going for Gold. Have a terrific Tuesday.

  16. You do look powerful in slow mo ...... BOL! I have an easy walk harness and my human says that it will be good for you too. You look like you should be the lead dog pulling a sled buddy!

  17. We do the exact same thing, Dougall, and our mom hollers at us for the same reason! We hope the Easy Walk harness works for you. It didn't for us - maybe because we're bigger and stronger.

    Love ya lots,

  19. Dougall you are definitely on a mission, but I am afraid you are not taking the time to smell the roses. Slow down and make it last Dougall.

  20. Wow. That technique of yours is fairly similar to mine, although I've never had the opportunity to review it in slow-mo. Personally, the easy walk was anything but that for me. Didn't bring out the best in me. I find I walk best when I am trying to impress the girls in the park :)

  21. I just act like a sled dog. BUTT my mom discovered something that helps. She just relaxes her arm and when I tug like a sled dog she just lets her arm bounce like crazy (in an uneven way). It drives me nuts so I slow down and look back to see if she is having a party or something. Mission accomplished.

  23. Boy. I haven't hopped like that in years. I'm too busy sleeping.

I'd give you a perfect 10 for your fine form!
