It is still really hot here, and it's going to be very hot tomorrow and very windy. There will be an "extreme" fire danger for most of the state with some parts being given a "catastrophic" level of danger.
I was watching a man on the TV (you all know how much I love to watch TV) said that it is the most dangerous day of fire danger in the history of New South Wales. Which is very scary!!!
One of my peeps, his Nanny-Penny (not this Nanny) lives on a farm in the "catastrophic" area. Catastrophic is REALLY scary! It means that any fires that are already burning, or new ones that start will be completely out of control. The government people made this new, scary level after the horrible "Black Saturday" fires in Victoria which killed hundreds of people in 2009.
My peep is really worried about Nanny-Penny, she says she's spoken to her local fire authority, and they said she can stay until tomorrow morning. My peep is really worried that if a fire starts Nanny-Penny won't have time to leave... : /
There was a close call near Wagga Wagga this afternoon. A grass fire burning out of control to the north east started moving to a small village called Oura. A warning was issued, and people were told to get out and come to Wagga. It was a close call, and the wind changed and pushed the fire away. It is still burning though, so who knows what it will do tomorrow, with the horrible hot wind the weather man was talking about.
I think I need to change the subject, I'm scaring myself!
Look, some more Christmas cards arrived today! Here they are!
Thanks guys, just what I needed!
But, look what else arrived.... My peep was helping me open the mail and, we were both surprised to see Floyd and I on one of the cards!!
What's going on here?!
It's the cards I sent to Reilly, Denny and Jackson!
For some reason (which wasn't written anywhere on it) it got sent back to us! It was gone for weeks, and weeks and weeks, and then came back with no explanation!!
Crazy post office!
I'm off to cool off under the air-conditioner vent...
