Ranger Downunder: Day One

G'day mates! We are SO excited! Not only did our peeps FINALLY get back from their trip away, but our mate Ranger arrived today! He used his magical teleporting powers to make his way Downunder to Australia to see us!

Ranger making his way down under through his magic teleporting tunnel!

I chatted it over with Floyd, and, we thought the best way to welcome Ranger to Oz was to make use of his teleporting powers and do some pawsome sight seeing! So, as soon as Ranger arrived...

We reckon Ranger looks pretty pawsome in his authentic Aussie akubra hat!

"ZAP!!"

Off we went too...

Uluru!
Uluru is in the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, for a little while Uluru was known as Ayers Rock, but in 1993 it was returned to it's traditional owners, the Anangu people.

The Anangu people have lived in this place for TENS of THOUSANDS of years ("That's much older than we are, isn't it Dougall?" "Yes Floyd, much, MUCH older!").

The Anangu people believe that Uluru was created by their ancestor spirits. They believe that in their travels, these great beings left marks in the land and made laws for then to keep and live by. Laws on how to look after the land and each other.
>
Ranger was pretty impressed by Uluru, "Wow mate, that is one HUGE rock!" Do they let people climb it??" For the Anangu people Uluru is a very, very special place, and while some people like to climb the rock, they ask, that out of respect we don't.

We were all okay with that, it's still beautiful to look at, and we thought, we'd probably get pretty hot out there in the sun any way!

"Phew, it's pretty hot out here in the desert... Maybe Floyd and I should have worn a hat like you Ranger!"

Next stop on our adventure is....

"ZAP!!"

The Sydney Opera House!

The Sydney Opera House was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzen. They started building it in 1958 and didn't finish it until 1973! ("Wow, that's a really LONG time, hey DOugall?" "Yes, Floyd, a really, REALLY long time!").

Ranger gave the Opera House a good sniff, "Wow, that is one CRAZY looking building! What do they do in there?"

They have plays and concerts and things like that. At the moment there is a show called "Black Diggers" about Aboriginal Soldiers that fought for Australia during World War I and II, even though they weren't even counted as Australians back then.

"Hey Dougall... What's that funny thing over there, behind the Opera house? It looks like a giant coat-hanger!"

"Ummm... Floyd, that looks like the Sydney Harbour Bridge! Even I know that and I'm from the States!"

"You're right Ranger... Fancing climbing it?"

Ranger had a great time climbing the bridge! "The view from up is here is PAWSOME! It's a shame Floyd was to scared to come!"

Time for our next stop I reckon Ranger... After all that hard work climbing, I could use a nice cool swim...

ZAP!!

The Great Barrier Reef!
"Wow, Dougall!! Look at these cool fish! This has been so much fun! I can't wait to see what we do tomorrow!"

----

Phew, after all that sight seeing, we were all pretty pooped (well, maybe not Floyd, he's never pooped).

Come by tomorrow to see what we get up to... It'll be a dinky-di bonzer time, we pawmise!
