Ranger Downunder: Day Two!

G'day mates! We decided to take Ranger on a bit of an adventure today!

See, we live in rural Australia, so we thought we'd show Ranger the country side, a bit of bush living, with some paddock bashing!
Paddock bashing is when you drive around a farm in an old car... Well, we couldn't find an old car, but we found this bonzer ute! (Ute is what we call a "pick-up" in Australia, it's short for utility).

We're not sure who's idea it was to let Floyd drive... He was being a "drongo" (silly) and wasn't paying attention, and we got "bogged". (That's what we call it when your car gets stuck in the mud).

After getting us bogged, Floyd was a bit of a "bludger" (lazy) and Ranger and I do all the hard "yakka" (work) digging the car out of the mud... Lucky we're terriers! We had the ute out in no time!

Once we got out of the mud Floyd drove us on to some higher ground... It was a pretty rough ride, and we're pretty sure Floyd taught himself how to drive... Strike a light (gee whizz) it was a bumpy ride!

Poor Ranger started feeling crook (sick) he looked like he was about to chunder (throw-up)!!

Since Ranger was looking a  bit green,  we decided to shoot through (head home) and said hooroo (goodbye) to the bush.

Floyd insisted we stop at the servo (service or petrol station) to buy a "dog's eye" (meat pie) with "dead horse" (tomato sauce)... Ranger and I didn't feel like eating anything for a while... Not after Floyd's driving!

(It didn't help that he spent most of the time looking out the window, instead of where he was driving!)

Stop by tomorrow for our special Australia Day post! Woohoo!!

Also, don't forget, tomorrow is the LAST DAY to submit your competition photos!

  1. A "dog's eye" (meat pie) with "dead horse" (tomato sauce) sounds good to us LOL. Love the rhyming slang. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Well....we could eat a "dog's eye" right now. Boy how did Floyd get that driving spot, he is dangerous. Floyie Boy, you gotta watch out the front! You better keep our buddy ranger safe Floyd. Dougall, bet the mud stuff was fun , even doing all that work!

    The Mad Scots

  3. WOW so many new Aussie words to learn. We love this.. Floydie drives like a Wild MAN... You are REALLY showing Ranger and US a marvelous time.
Now we would each like a Dog's Eye, please.

  4. We always use to call it donga bashing - ah those were the wild reckless days - out on the moterbikes in the are making mom even more homesick

  5. Incredible. After Floyd got you bogged, you let him drive again??? Did you chunder your brains while bogged?

    1. This post should have been called "The Chunder Downunder" and subtitled "You Bogged my Ute, you Brute".

  6. What??!! Floydie didn't do any doughnuts in the paddock? Struth....

Have a Happy Oz Day, today. We're going to the river and THEN having a dog's eye treat later!

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

We notice we were passed over once again as Australian Dogs of the Year. We think the addition of Dame to our names would be posh.

  7. We are glad you translated for us! Always an adventure!!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  8. Sounds like you puppers had an eventful day. I enjoyed the lingo. Hooroo.

    Aroo to you,

  9. I am loving all these new terms. My peep said she's going to tell her class about chunder tomorrow (that's the latest bug to make everyone sick). It looks like you are having a blast!

  10. OMD!! We think you and Floyd need to do a Teaching Tuesday on Australia, like the one we did for South Africa!!!
    Wally & Sammy

  11. Seriously, did you just say Dead Horse? And it's Tomato Sauce?

I thought it was already weird hearing the word Drongo. Thanks for the new words.
