I experienced my very first thunderstorm
last night.
Floyd and I were curled up in our beds and
my human was sitting next to us reading blogs and other things at her computer
desk.
Notice that Floyd has stolen my Dougall sized bed... It is a tight fit! |
We had been getting storm warnings for a
few days, but none of them had eventuated, but just out of curiosity she
decided to check the weather online and found this radar image and storm
warning.
Luckily we live on the eastern side of the
map, so we didn’t get any damaging hail or anything...
But, it was still LOUD and scary! Some of the lightning was so bright it light up the sky like the middle of the day!
When the first clap of thunder struck I jumped
out of my bed and ran for cover under her feet!
I sat there on edge for a while, until
things calmed down a little. Then I decided to keep watch from the middle of
the room.
I didn’t get much sleep at all, and she
didn’t either because she was nice enough to stay up and keep me company (Floyd
slept through the whole thing).
So, in the morning she let us snuggle with
her, on her big comfy bed.
It is what you're used to. Every summer we get a lot of thunder. Sometimes there's lightening with it and sometimes there's precipitation. It is so often at twilight that we don't get worked up about it. I wonder what the rabbits think about it.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the homeless dawgies out in the weather...
DeleteIt's a bit scary isn't it mate? Sounds like you handled it though, little fella! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I was pretty worried when it was at its loudest...
DeleteDougall, I am so glad you are safe, I am very scared of thunder storms. I get so nervous and I go and hide in our bathtub. I can't believe Floyd slept through it. I think you did a very good job of protecting your family and I am glad its over for now.
ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha
Is it safer in the bathtub?
DeleteIt sounds like you did okay for your first thunderstorm, Dougall. We hope they're all stress-free for you!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
I hope so too!
DeleteThat last picture was mega cute. Hope you guys caught up on your sleep and we hope you have a boom boom free Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Thanks Molly!
DeleteWe had a pretty big sleep in. The human kept complaining that Floyd was a bed hog... Every time he move he pushed her closer to the edge of the bed!! BOL!
Dougall, you are learning, a Scottie is in control at all times, making the peep take special care of you.
ReplyDeleteSusie & Bites
Pees; Our favorite place is also under dads desk, it is cramped with both of us and dads feet, but oh so safe, and dad talks to us all the time, Silly peep Heeheehee!!!
I liked the desk too, it was like a little storm shelter!
DeleteDougall, you guys are so cute all curled up! You did a good job because thunder storms are scary and you got a bit comfy snooze in the bed! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteAlyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
The big bed was good... :P
DeleteSounds like a rough night Dougall. Good thing you had company to watch over ya. I just bark at the thunder ~ it makes me mad! Try that, the peeps just LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby
I did a little bit of barking, but when it was really loud I was too frightened to even try a little yip... :/
DeleteHope you have a good rest! Those thunderstorms are really bad!!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are!
DeleteYa gotta respect that lightning and thunder, don't ya. It can be pretty scary, only I am not scared but Scrappy and My Vickie get pretty nervous. WE are expecting thunder and lightning tonight so I don't figure there will be much sleep for us.
ReplyDeletebert
I bet you look after Scrappy and Vickie during storms... :)
DeleteWe just got the rain!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Hope you didn't get too wet!
DeleteHi Dougall!
ReplyDeleteYep, you made it throught your first thunderstorm! You didn't get too scared and even kept watch from the middle of the room for a while. That is some Scottie courage, if you ask us.
Your beardbuddies,
Joules & Prescott
PS: Floyd stealing your bed is hilarious! Don't worry, he won't be able to fit soon enough. Thought he might try, like our silly Scribble did, BOL!
Those boxer dogs are funny fellas!!
