"...to capture him, to kill him, and then eat his eggs"
Well, I don't know about you guys but.... I might have been to busy sleeping to accept the mission... But, my cousin Alex on the other paw, he took this mission, very, very seriously. He already has (unsuccessful) experience hunting the bunny in his back yard.
When Alex heard about this GIANT, CRIMINAL rabbit, he took the mission without a second thought.
So, when the peeps were getting something out of their car before they went to bed, he snuck out into the front garden.
Now Alex has the stealth down PAT! The peeps didn't even see him, and they shut the door and went to bed.
While they were snug in their bed, watching a bit of telly before they nodded off, Alex was hard at work, patrolling the front garden...
Now, Alex couldn't tell the peeps where he was going, because, he was deep under cover, and when my peep's mum was just about to nod off, when she looked down to Alex's bed and realised he wasn't there. That was when the panic struck.
She and my peep's dad rushed outside and were yelling his name...
They were out there in the dark, calling his name for AGES... Looking every where, under bushes, near the road, EVERY WHERE... But it is very hard to find a nearly black dog in the dark, in an area where there are no street lights. They were beside themselves, they were worried that he could be anywhere by then, and they live on a busy road, where people drive really fast... Worst case scenario was popping into their heads...
Until... At about 1:30 A.M. When Alex (realising that his cover was blown) decided to come forward, and trotted up to the front door, tail wagging, wondering what they were playing at...
So, Lt. Ainsley, sadly, Alex has to report that he did not catch the Evil Bunny... Even though he did give it a solid go.
You can't report failure to the Lt.
